Crossroads Treatment Centers, Inc.

+ Referral Process
Crossroads Treatment Center welcomes referrals from all of the 58 California counties. Prospective clients are referred for placement by telephone, mail, or fax through the Departments of Mental Health, Social Services, Probation, Adoption Assistance, or private sources. All referrals are screened and evaluated by the Intake Coordinator/Clinical Director to determine if the needs of the client can be appropriately addressed through placement in our agency. If it appears that we may possibly meet the needs of the client, a referral packet is requested to further investigate the developmental, social, educational, cognitive, and psychological functioning of the client. Information requested for the referral packet may include, but is not limited to, a developmental history, medical history, educational records, a current psychological or psychiatric evaluation, a summary of prescribed medications, placement history, court reports, and/or a history of psychiatric hospitalizations.

If a referral appears appropriate, the Intake Coordinator/Clinical Director will either travel to the client's location to conduct an interview or offer to interview and give a tour to the client at a prospective placement facility. Whenever possible, the client's family is also included in the interview process. During this pre-placement interview, the Intake Coordinator/Clinical Director will assess the client's (and family's) needs and the appropriateness of placement by determining a willingness to enter into residential care, the level of insight into the emotional and behavioral problems, and how the program's educational and therapeutic services correspond with what is desired by the client, family, and/or county placement worker.
